ABOUT THIS PROJECT
HOPE-FLOWS: BIRTHDAY IN A BAG is a nonprofit organization started by 12-year-old Florie Low in 2024. Florie has compassion for others. She realizes that not all kids get to celebrate their birthdays like she does. Being a tween and teen is a challenging time. Birthday In A Bag is Flo’s idea to give tweens and teens in need a little extra fun and joy on their birthdays.
We hope this project will continue to evolve to other schools and venues. Initially, Birthday In A Bag will include the following: Instacake: a cake in a card that includes everything you need to make a mini cake in your microwave in 60 seconds ( See Video) ; a birthday balloon; a birthday sign; a happy birthday luminary lantern bag with an LED water activated light (See Video); a lip balm; Aaron’s Thinking Putty; a fidget toy, birthday sunglasses or headband; birthday napkins, and hopefully more depending on supporters and donations from friends and businesses.
The school social worker will distribute the bags in a discreet way that will allow for privacy. Florie will remain anonymous. She doesn’t want thanks, she just wants tweens and tweens to feel special on their birthdays and to have hope that the year ahead will be a good one!

For local people, you can request a bracelet in the color of your choice for pick up. Donors who give $25 or more will get a candle added to our birthday cake on the website.
